Its eastern end is the oldest residential part of the city: the federal nomination for the Northwest Marietta Historic District calls it “the largest historic area” in Marietta and the one with “the least intrusions.” Farther out, the city limits take in residential streets along Kennesaw Avenue and Burnt Hickory Road.

Where it is
The area starts at the Kennesaw Avenue Historic District, which the city’s historic districts page calls “the first of the locally designated districts in Marietta.” Around it is the National Register’s Northwest Marietta district; its nomination (PDF) describes houses from the Greek Revival style “to the elaborate Victorian style structures.” The city’s neighborhoods map layer names three neighborhoods here: Kennesaw Ave, Polk and Lewis Park.
West of the parkway loop, the city limits reach out along Kennesaw Avenue and Burnt Hickory Road toward Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. OpenStreetMap names one place inside that stretch Oakton. Exterior changes in the Kennesaw Avenue local district go to the city’s Historic Board of Review; see our building permits and zoning guide.
ZIP codes in the city’s parcel data: 30064 for 62% of parcels, 30152 for 16%, 30060 for 12% and 30066 for 6%. Zillow files 30152 under Kennesaw, but these parcels are inside Marietta city limits.

Homes just outside the city limits here, even with a Marietta or Kennesaw address, are in the Cobb County School District instead. More in our schools guide.

How we drew this area
The eastern part follows the city’s Kennesaw Avenue local district, the Northwest Marietta National Register district and the Kennesaw Ave, Polk and Lewis Park polygons in the city’s neighborhoods layer. The western part is every city parcel west of those and north of the Whitlock Avenue area, out to the city limits. Edges are approximate. School and ZIP shares count every parcel in that area in the city’s parcel data on Oct. 5, 2026. Store locations are © OpenStreetMap contributors.
